Researchers at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) have developed Tea-Cola as a beverage for the first time. The research team of inventing this Tea- Cola was led by Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed, Professor, Food Engineering and Technology (FET) Department of SUST . The other two members of the team are Nabil Nowroz Boishakh, a Thesis student of EFT Department and Md. Al Imran Zakaria, a Masters student of the same Department. "Apart from tea, it is possible to produce various flavored cosmetics, especially soap, shampoo, toothpaste, Tea-cola, tea pickles, etc.," informed the research team leader. He said that they started research on this in 2019. Due to financial constraints in the implementation of the plan, the professor prepared a research proposal and submitted it to the SUST Research Center. After the proposal was approved, after three years of research with three students, they have been able to reach the desired goal this year. He also said that after the research, Tea-Cola has been made with two types of 'Black Tea' and 'Green Tea'. The research team is now working to extend the duration of the drinks that have been made, even though the drinks will be expired after three months at this point of research. At the same time, diabetic patients will also be able to take Tea-Cola. The process of both sugar and non-sugar type of same quality Tea-cola is in progress.
